Reunited and It Feels So Good

Gasp! Ack! Arrggh! My 10-year high school reunion is this weekend. Though the realization that it’s been a friggin’ DECADE since I last walked the hallowed halls of Wylie High has bruised the ego a bit, I have to admit I’m excited to see old (emphasis on the old, lol) friends. I was supposed to help plan this shindig, but when prep hit a fever pitch I was blessedly, blissfully distracted with a new baby. However, a couple of weeks ago I did sign on to create a memorial video of our four classmates (Carrie, Sonia, Carr and Mike) who are no longer with us. I have become obsessed with the project — it can’t be too tear-jerkerish, nor can it be too lighthearted — and I’m starting to lose touch with reality. I want this to be a perfect remembrance and mere days before the event I have no clue what “perfect” means.

Last night as I was trying to work on the piece, Coop started throwing a major hissy fit (the soul-shaking kind). Chris and I took 15-minute baby breaks while the other regained their sense of hearing. During my on-call time slot, I was scanning and cropping photos with one hand and gently patting a writhing baby with the other all while trying to listen to different selections of music AND sing Sweet Child of Mine. Hmm, maybe it’s this mommy part that has me going AWOL.

Now that I think about it, though, this whole experience has been a bit surreal: Working on a memorial video with my son on my lap — the little one who’s the awesome reality of childhood dreams that were shared with the faces dancing across my computer screen. Aww, what a beautiful thought.

BUT, I’m hoping tonight won’t be a repeat performance. =)
