We entered a new chapter in diaper land today … chow time for a 4-month-old … sans bottle! Coop had his 4 month check-up on Friday and Dr. D said we could start shoveling in the cereal – with an actual spoon!! Woo-hoo. This news called for a celebration of the retail kind. Chris’ Grandma was visiting from California this weekend and she treated her first great grandbaby to the coolest high chair imaginable. This thing, aside from nice mommy perks like 4 recline positions, 7 adjustable seat heights, one-hand removable tray and wheels, it also boasts a jungle theme complete with lions that roar, birds that sing, monkeys, music … it’s a table-top amusement park and it rocks! We were/are sooo thrilled that Grandma White gifted us with such an awesome treat. To commemorate Coop’s first big-boy feast, we handed Grandma the spoon and let her have the first honors.
Coop wasn’t quite sure what he was supposed to do … he licked at the spoon like it was an ice cream cone. After 15 minutes of fine dining, there was more cereal on Coop’s face than in his tummy, but he seemed to love this new-fangled way of eating.
Mommy’s perspective? I’m thrilled that his introduction to spoon foods is an easy-to-get-out white. =) Here’s hoping Coop’s mastered the art of actually opening his mouth when the spoon head’s his way by the time we move on to stainers like the orange and green food groups.
