"If it's spread, it's spread. There's nothing I can do about it," my mom said breezily when she called to tell me about her upcoming procedure.

She's having a PET Scan today to see if her skin cancer has jumped ship and invaded other parts of her body.

"They're looking for HOT spots in the lymph nodes and organs," she said.

I've always thought my mom was absolutely precious, but for the first time in my life, I'm praying she doesn't turn out to be a HOTTIE.
